CPAP devices

Resmed offers solutions to help you sleep and breathe better.

What's a CPAP device?

A CPAP device is a machine that treats sleep apnea by delivering air through tubing and into a mask to keep your airway open while you sleep. This process is known as sleep therapy and is designed to help you get a restful night’s sleep.

Understanding the four types of devices

Fixed pressure

A CPAP is a fixed-pressure device, which means it delivers one consistent airflow pressure that is set by your doctor.

Auto-adjusting pressure

An APAP is an auto-adjusting device that changes your airflow pressure level throughout the night based on your sleep position and what stage of sleep you’re in.

Two air pressures

A bilevel device is ideal for people who have trouble adjusting to airflow pressure. It includes two pressure settings: a higher pressure when you inhale, and a lower pressure when you exhale to improve breathing comfort.

Travel-friendly

Portable CPAP devices, like the Resmed AirMini™, offer many of the same benefits as traditional devices with the convenience of being much smaller. AirMini is one of the smallest CPAP devices — it weighs less than a pound and fits in the palm of your hand.

Getting used to the consistent, pressurized airflow of a CPAP or APAP can be challenging.

A bilevel device may help you breathe easier and enjoy a more restful therapy experience. If you’re struggling with your current device or having trouble getting used to therapy, talk to your physician about whether a bilevel device may be a good option for you.*
